Our world faces increasing threats from small-molecule pollutants which are often laborious to detect. Electrochemical methods offer rapid, accurate and quantitative results in easy handheld setups. We have previously developed hybrid cellulose/carbon electrochemical platforms that show ground-breaking performances in detection of various small molecules. In this proof-of-concept (PoC) phase, we aim to advance our hybrid material technology from TRL 3 to 5, by delivering industrially scalable, fully integrated working sensor prototype, and validating it for detection of antibiotics in freshwater. We will further aim to improve the sustainability of our sensors by replacing fossil-based carbons with bio-based carbon alternatives. Our technology offers a versatile bio-based sensing platform with multiple application fields and a strong economic potential in global markets.
