Based on the results of CoMa project on how sorbed water on fibres affects gas adsorption, we will demonstrate the water-assisted collection of CO2 emissions using amine-functionalised cellulose-based foams. We will create a moisture-responsive solid foam sorbents, and as a proof of concept we will construct an architecture where a porous CO2 capturing template is developed using fibre foam technology. The target is to demonstrate how high hygroscopicity of cellulose and water interactions can be exploited in materials engineering of gas filters. On a generic level, the approach has been at the core of our past FinnCERES-related research.
