Inspiration for Material Enthusiasts: CHEMARTS Cookbook

Updated: Aug 21, 2020

The CHEMARTS Cookbook offers both simple and more advanced ideas and recipes for hands-on experiments with wood-based materials. The book showcases interesting results, focusing on raw materials that are processed either chemically or mechanically from trees or other plants: cellulose fibres, micro- or nano-structured fibrils, cellulose derivatives, lignin, bark, and wood extractives.

Co-editor Prof. Tapani Vuorinen describes the book: “The CHEMARTS Cookbook is not a science or engineering book. Instead, it is written to inspire people to study and experiment with bio-based materials and material solutions.”

You can order a printed copy or download a pdf version from the Aalto University Shop.

Clockwise: Professor Tapani Vuorinen (Aalto CHEM), Designer Nina Riutta, Photographer Eeva Suorlahti, Professor Pirjo Kääriäinen (Aalto ARTS), and Design manager Liisa Tervinen.
