The programme started with talks at Haukilahden school by Kristiina Kruus (Aalto Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering, CHEM), Head of the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems and its Bioproducts Centre by Herbert Sixta, and Vice Dean of Education at Aalto CHEM Tapani Vuorinen. Orlando Rojas (FinnCERES Research PI and Professor at Aalto) presented the FinnCERES Flagship.
The highlight of the Forest Academy visit was ‘Forest is our material bank – Research project demonstrations at Aalto Bioproduct Centre’ in which our visitors could see and touch some of the new materials and products from research done at Aalto’s Bioproduct Centre. The demo stations were hosted by Aalto’s students and faculty, including Ioncell, CHEMARTS, and new materials from lignin and nanocellulose.
