Aalto University Professor and FinnCERES Scientific Principal Investigator Monika Österberg has been elected as a new member of the Mathematics and Natural Science Department of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters. The decision on new members was made at the spring meeting on April 28.

The Finnish Academy of Science and Letters is a broad-based learned society founded in 1908 with the principal aim of promoting scientific research, acting as a bond between those engaged in advanced research and supporting better utilisation of high-quality research in decision-making. It currently has over 800 Finnish members and 180 external members, distinguished academics on whom membership has been conferred in recognition of their achievements.

The Academy organizes meetings, discussions and educational events. In addition, the Academy produces scientific publications, makes proposals concerning science and those engaged in it, thus taking an active part in the long-term planning of science policy.
